Definition: A sibling map is a pair of the PSID individuals having at least one parent in common. Table-0d below is an example.

The following example shows how to construct an analysis file by merging data from sibling map and individual data files.

In the tables below, except table-1, individual data are presented in red, and sibling data are presented blue.

• Table-0v and Table-0d are meta and data of intra-generation (sibling) map. Each row in the table is a set of individuals from same generation having at least one parent in common. An individual's id is a pair of variables labeled as: "1968 INTERVIEW # OF ..." and "PERSON # OF ...".
• "Cvivility Index @ Age 25" (CVI) is a composite measure of individual attributes. It is a constructed variable and ranges between 0 and 1. The meta and data are given in Table-1v and Table-1d.
• Using information from Table-0d and Table-1d, create two tables (Table-2d and Table-3d) as shown below. Table-2d is CVI data of individuals (ID68, PN, CVI). Table-3d is CVI data of sibling (ID68S, PNS, CVI_S). Variables from Table-3d are renamed for a successful merge.
• Merge data from:
  a) Table-0d and Table-2d using (ID68, PN) as key; and
  b) Result table from a) and Table-3d using (ID68S, PNS) as key; and
  Final data and meta are described in Table-4d and Table-4v below.
