Due to user interest, the individual-level summary variables were added to the Data Center in August 2003 as part of the individual variable listings. Their names are virtually identical to those on the 1968-1993 Individual File, except that they are prefaced with "ER" instead of "V". They include the ethnicity variables used in designing the combined Core-Latino weights (ER31987-ER31989); the cross-year summaries of an individual's history in the study, e.g., whether deceased, whether a sample member, etc. (ER32001-ER32008); and the birth and marriage history summaries (ER32009-ER32049). The values for ER31987-ER32008 are current through 1993, that is, they have NOT been updated for subsequent waves. However, users will be pleased to know that values for the birth and marriage history variables, ER32009-ER32049, ARE current through 2001, as they were generated from the most recent family history files.
