The Public Release I of the 2003 Family file was reissued on 11/16/2005. 1. It includes updated values for the background data for Heads (ER23389-ER23480) and Wives (ER23304-ER23387). These values have now been brought forward from prior waves for all cases, and include variables such as parents' country/state of birth, parents' educational and occupational status, region where Head grew up, Head/Wife race and ethnicity, Head/Wife military experience, the occupation/industry of first job of Head/Wife, Head/Wife religious preference, and variables about education, including Completed Education (Head: ER24148; Wife: ER24149). Other variables generated from the background data have also been completed (ER24146, ER24147, ER24153 and ER24154). 2. Variables derived from the Childbirth and Adoption History file containing counts of the numbers of births to Head, Wife and others (ER24171-ER24177) are completed. 3. The values for ER21001, Release Number, have been changed to 3 from their previous value of 2.
