PSID has collected information about the vehicles owned or leased by all members in a family unit in all waves since 1999. A series of questions are asked for up to three vehicles, including make and model. Because some vehicle models can be highly unique and therefore potentially identifying, PSID provides information about vehicle model only under restricted contract. The Vehicle Codebook describes the restricted variables.   Other data from the vehicle section that are publicly available on the PSID website include number of vehicles owned or leased by the family, type, year, size, year and month acquired, whether used primarily for business, purchase price, whether traded in or sold a vehicle to make current purchase and amount received, down payment, whether borrowed or financed and amount, amount and periodicity of payments, number of total payments agreed to, and number of payments made to date.
