Included in this file for each wave of the Transition into Adulthood
Supplement (TAS) are the Beale Rural-Urban Code. The Rural-Urban
Continuum Codes were originally developed in 1974 and have been
updated each decennial since (1983, 1993, 2003, 2013). Please note
that the 2013 Rural-Urban Continuum Codes are not directly
comparable with the codes prior to 2000 because of new
methodology used in developing the 2000 metropolitan areas.
TAS-2005 to TAS-2013 use the 1983 Beale scale and TAS-2015 to
TAS-2019 uses the 2013 scale.
